Queer love triangles, fierce looks & theater: 'Interview With the Vampire' stars talk season 2

Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of vampires, love triangles, and spectacular theater!

The second season of AMC's beloved, queer AF supernatural series Interview with a Vampire is set to premiere May 12. The show's first season leaned into the relationship of vampires Lestat and Louis while also simultaneously following Louis as he recounts his life (and relationships with other vampires) to investigative journalist Daniel Molloy. This season, the dynamic is set to change with new characters — and new romances.

Out got to speak to the Interview with the Vampire stars at the recent red-carpet premiere in New York City, discussing everything from their characters true intentions, their desires, and even the lavish fashions of the show!

Jacob Anderson's character Louis finds himself in a love triangle every season, with his emotions and memories scattered all over the place. We asked Jacob, if he had to make the decision for Louis and choose his partner, who would it be.

"I'm choosing Louis. I think Louis needs to learn himself before he starts looking for a man." Anderson responded, and rightfully so, as Louis has a rough journey with his own memories throughout the season. He also gets to watch some incredible theater sequences, and we asked Anderson which was his favorite sequence to shoot.

"Well, I wasn't involved in any of the plays, but I love watching them. There's one that's like, it is really weird. They basically, his prized particular plant, I dunno what it was about, but I loved it. It was weird."

Anderson has also played a fan favorite Game of Thrones character, known for his time on the show as GreyWorm. The real question is would GreyWorm survive this world of vampires? And this is what Anderson had to say: "Yeah, yeah. I think he would just blend and find someone to be loyal to."

In season one we get introduced to Claudia, a young girl Louis saved and asked his lover Lestat to make a vampire. The second season is set around a central theme which is, "memory is the monster." We asked actress Delainey Hayles what the theme meant to Claudia this season.

"To Claudia? It means her version of events might not be told fully," Hayles said. "Again, all they've got to rely on is her diaries. So yeah. Will Claudia's truth be told or not? I dunno. You have to wait to see."

Claudia also sets the stage in theater sequences, some very large ones at that. We asked Hayles which scene she was most excited for the fans to see. She responded, "Baby Lou! I'm very excited for everyone to see her performance. It's insane."

Last but not least, another character we met at the tail end of season one was Armand. Season two is set to deep dive into his character and his 77-year long romance with Louis. While chatting with Assad Zaman who plays Armand, we asked what he thinks his character is truly after. Is it love or is it power?

"Acceptance," Zaman tells Out. "And I don't know if Armand knows really what that means, but he wants to be seen and accepted for who and what he is. But the problem with him is that he's not prepared to show all of what he is yet."

Besides all the bloodlust and love triangles, season two of Interview is also packed with the sickest vampire fashion, and these blood suckers turned out some looks! We asked Zaman and Hayles who had the best costumes throughout season two.

"We meet Lestat in the 1700s and I think he looks pretty dapper in those scenes," Zaman said. "You've seen the picture, the ICONIC red cloak."

Hayles responded: "Santiago. SANTIAGO."
