Queen Camilla is back to royal work for an important issue after celebrating several special occasions with King Charles.

On April 16, the Queen, 76, met with a group of young representatives from Changemakers, a youth group offshoot of SafeLives, for a discussion in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace. Queen Camilla has been a patron of SafeLives since 2020 and actively supports the national charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse.

Queen Camilla directly connected with the young Changemakers, who range in age from 14 to 20. The group works to help guide SafeLives’ response to problems facing young people with an emphasis on promoting healthy relationships. The Changemakers told the royal about their latest initiatives and ideas in a conversation that SafeLives executives Ellen Miller and Isabel Boyer joined.

"A fantastic, energizing conversation at the Palace today," SafeLives wrote on X following the event. "The Queen is committed to helping us stop abuse before it starts. With Her Majesty’s ongoing support, our brilliant Changemakers will continue to amplify young voices and make meaningful change for the next generation."

Queen Camilla has long made supporting victims of rape, domestic violence and sexual abuse a key priority of her public work. The royal stepped out for SafeLives to open the new "Safe Space" resource hub at Aberdeen Art Gallery in Scotland in February and again in May 2022 to launch a photo exhibition in Manchester, England, illuminating the issue of domestic abuse.

The Queen’s latest palace outing marks her return to work following her 19th wedding anniversary with King Charles and their appearance at church on Easter Sunday.

The royal couple celebrated 19 years of marriage on April 9 and took a trip to their Birkhall, their home in the Scottish Highlands, for a few days. King Charles and Queen Camilla were spotted driving to church at Craithe Kirk, the British royal family’s go-to church during stays at Balmoral, in photos published by The Sun on April 14.

King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla typically head to their property near Balmoral Castle around this time each year for a break around their anniversary.

Nestled on the banks of the River Muick, the secluded spot — where they like to walk with their rescue dogs, Jack Russell Terriers Bluebell and Beth — gave the King a chance to rest amid his cancer treatment and the Queen time to recharge her batteries.

Queen Camilla has continued with a busy royal workload while her husband postpones public-facing duties while receiving cancer treatment, a diagnosis Buckingham Palace announced on Feb. 5.

The Queen’s steady presence has further underscored her central royal in the royal family as Kate Middleton has paused public work after announcing her cancer diagnosis following her abdominal surgery in January.

On Easter Sunday, King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped out to attend a scaled-down holiday church service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Like on Christmas, members of the royal family usually come out in full force for church outings on the holiday together, but the tradition was tweaked this year with a slimmed-down contingent due to King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

On March 31, the King and Queen sat apart from the rest of the royal family and attendees as a precautionary measure amid his cancer treatment, and the two opted out of the traditional post-service events like a reception and private family lunch. However, King Charles surprised well-wishers during a mini walkabout when he and Queen Camilla briefly greeted members of the public after church, shaking hands and sharing Easter wishes.

"Get well soon, Your Majesty," one woman said in a video shared to X by Rebecca English of the Daily Mail, prompting King Charles to reply, "I'm doing my best!"

The holiday also looked different this year without Princess Kate, Prince William and their children in attendance. The Prince and Princess of Wales didn’t join the trip to church with their kids Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, following Kate's announcement about her health a little more than a week before.

Prince William scaled back his schedule following the announcement of his wife’s abdominal surgery in January and is expected to return to work later this week for the first time since Princess Kate shared that she is undergoing cancer treatment.

On April 18, the Prince of Wales will highlight the work of community and environmental organizations in southwest London and Surrey. The outing follows George, Charlotte and Louis’ return to the classroom following an Easter holiday break, which their mom Kate strategically timed the announcement of her cancer diagnosis to.
