While King Charles steps back from public royal duties amid his cancer treatment, Queen Camilla is keeping a busy schedule of outings.

King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, traveled from their country residence in Sandringham back to London on Tuesday. The King received cancer treatment in the city and undertook meetings with palace staff, while the Queen had a special event take place at Clarence House, the couple's longtime home in the capital.

Queen Camilla was installed as an Honorary Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers. During the ceremony, she was clothed in a robe by the Master Fan Maker and presented with a fan designed by Stewart Parvin M.V.O., commissioned in 2020 to mark the impact of COVID-19 on so many lives.

She also met representatives from the Fan Museum, of which she became a patron in 2008, and the Court of Fan Makers.

She teamed up with another member of the royal family for the event: Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, who was installed as a Liveryman of the same company in 2005.

On Wednesday, King Charles returned to Sandringham solo. He has been spending most of his time since announcing his cancer diagnosis at the royal residence in Norfolk, where the royals traditionally gather for Christmas, and seen attending church at St. Mary Magdalene in recent weeks.

Queen Camilla stayed in London to visit the Kindred Studios' Shepherds Bush pop-up hub, an art studio and creative space encouraging arts, crafts and community cohesion.

Among the art pieces was a familiar face: Princess Charlotte! A painting of Prince William and Kate Middleton's daughter based on the official portrait that was released in honor of her second birthday in 2017 was displayed.

Camilla also seemed tickled to meet costume designer Syban Velardi-laufer, who wore an elaborate red costume complete with long names and a face-covering headpiece.

While King Charles is stepping out of the public eye while he continues receiving treatment for his cancer, he is continuing to work behind the scenes. But as Princess Kate continues her recovery from the abdominal surgery she underwent last month, it's up to Queen Camilla, Prince William and other family members to continue to represent the monarchy.

Last week, Queen Camilla showed her dedication to royal duty when she traveled for six hours by car to attend a concert at Salisbury Cathedral in southern England after her helicopter was grounded due to inclement weather conditions, making it impossible to fly the 200 miles there from Sandringham as planned.

“The flight was canceled due to the weather so she elected to go by road, which is one hell of a journey — at least six hours in these conditions,” a source told The Telegraph. “She did not want to let down the King, having assured him that she would continue with her schedule of official engagements."
