Several weeks after the Outkast member released an album of woodwind music, the Migos star bought a flute of his own

André 3000 may not be the only rapper getting into playing flute.

Quavo has been documenting his travels in Japan on social media since early December. On Monday, the rapper, 32, shared that he was so excited about hearing a street vendor in a Japanese market play a flute that he was compelled to buy his own — not unlike the fellow Atlanta star and former Outkast member, who recently released an album entirely of flute music.

In the clip posted in a carousel of recent photos and videos on Instagram, the Migos member is seen thoroughly impressed by the enchanting sounds of a man who’s playing a long, red flute outside of his shop in an outdoor market.

“I want one,” the hip-hop star mouths to someone off camera while grinning and pointing to the instrument.

“Can you get me one?” he asks a member of his team with a big smile on his face.

“I want one!” Quavo adds before he and an associate make the purchase.

It’s unclear if the Rocket Power artist will be bringing the his woodwind with him into the studio — but based on his recent posts, it does appear as though he’s working on something new.

In the same carousel that features the flute-shopping clip, Quavo also shared a video monitor from the set of what looks to be like a new music video.

Last week, the “I'm the One” rapper also offered fans a look and what’s coming soon by posting another compilation of footage. The post included shots of him eating sushi off a model, getting fitted into a traditional kimono, flexing his moves in a karate studio and ad libbing alongside a group of dancers, who were also dressed in kimonos.

While fans will have to wait to see if Quavo lays down some flute on his upcoming tracks, his purchase does come shortly after another rap star released a record of woodwind music.

In November, André 3000, 48, surprised fans by releasing his debut solo album New Blue Sun, which exclusively features ambient music, rather than the rap that he’s known for.

While it seemed like a far cry from the music he made in Outkast, the eight-track project ended up being an acclaimed, eclectic mix of sounds. (Its lengthy, tongue-in-cheek song titles didn’t go unnoticed either, including the album opener “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a 'Rap' Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time.”)

Upon the project’s announcement, the “Hey Ya!” artist shared a statement in a press release about his choice to make his long-awaited debut entirely instrumental. “I've been interested in winds for a long time, so it was just a natural progression for me to go into flutes," he said.

He also opened up about why the project doesn’t feature any of the kinds of bars that fans are familiar with. "I think people feel like I'm sitting around on rap albums, or sitting around and I'm just not putting them out in that way. And no it's not like that," he explained. "In my mind, I really would like to make a rap album. So maybe that happens one day, but I got to find a way to say what I want to say in an interesting way that's appealing to me at this age."
