Quavo Is “Gathering Information” For Takeoff’s Posthumous Album

As Quavo and Offset have publicly patched up their differences, fans have expressed their desire for a joint album. However, following the recent release of Quavo’s Rocket Power, the “Turn Yo Clic Up” rapper has revealed the next project he works on will be Takeoff’s posthumous album.

In an exclusive interview with VIBE, Quavo spoke on any possible tapes with his former Migos member Set — to which he didn’t entertain — but declared he’s “gathering information” for Rocket’s project.

“The next project I’m going to be working on is the Rocket’s. You know what I’m saying? Takeoff,” he revealed without a timeline. “I’m gathering a whole bunch of information, gathering a lot of producers, gathering a lot of my friends, a lot of the artists. And we’re going to make this album one of the craziest albums of all time.”

“So my next mission is to get a Takeoff’s album together.”

Quavo and Takeoff
Quavo and Takeoff of Migos performs onstage during the Clive Davis and Recording Academy Pre-GRAMMY Gala and GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons Honoring Jay-Z on January 27, 2018 in New York City.

Quavo has continued to honor his nephew and group member since Take’s death back in November, when he was fatally shot. In Qua’s first solo album since the release of 2018’s Quavo Huncho, he gets candid about how he’s been grieving his loss as well as appreciating life.

Speaking to the spirituality of the 18-track LP, Quavo said, “I feel like this is trap Gospel, you know what I’m saying? This the gangster Gospel. This for the ones who sometimes may let a cuss word slip out in church, but still say, ‘Sorry, Lord.’ Everybody ain’t the same to where they can express themself without saying a cuss word or two.”

He added, “I just think [with this album] we loving the Lord all in one spot, at one time, giving 100 percent. It don’t matter how you love him.” Listen below.

One song in particular that sees much of Quavo’s vulnerable side is “Hold Me,” where he speaks on losing Takeoff and also keeping his faith in God.

He raps, “I was trapped up in all my emotions/ Lost my nephew to gunplay and smoke sh*t/ Lost my dawgs to some petty a** ho sh*t/ I guess you look at me ’cause I’m the oldest/ We was the closеst (On God)/ I ain’t never gon’ let thе streets hold me/ You ain’t never gon’ hear that I folded/ It’s on me and I ain’t got to show it/ I just gave it to God, told Him, ‘Hold it.'”

Following the passing of Takeoff, née Kirsnick Khari Ball, Quavo expressed to his fans, “I miss him a lot and I love him. He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. And that’s it.”
