The Punisher: What's next in the Marvel-Netflix universe?

Warning: This post contains spoilers from the entire first season of Marvel’s The Punisher. Read at your own risk.

The Punisher’s war has come to an end.

If you made it to the end of the 13 episodes, you’re likely also wondering what’s next now that the bloodshed is over. While The Punisher‘s future is undecided, the future of Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Universe remains bright — or as bright as possible in the dark streets of Marvel’s New York. Below, we’ve put together a quick primer on what’s next for the streamer’s street-level heroes:

What’s next:

Marvel’s Jessica Jones, season 2 (expected 2018)

The second season, directed by all women, will feature both old and new faces. As EW exclusively revealed in August, David Tennant will return as the villainous Kilgrave, whom Jessica (Krysten Ritter) killed at the end of season 1. New cast members include Power‘s J.R. Ramirez, who stars as Oscar, the new superintendent of Jessica’s building, and Oscar nominee Janet McTeer (The White Queen), who plays “an undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.” Production on season 2 wrapped in September.

Marvel’s Luke Cage, season 2 (expected 2018)

When the Harlem-set drama returns for season 2, Misty Knight (Simone Missick) will be sporting her comic book-mandated bionic arm after losing her real one in a sword fight in The Defenders (check out EW’s exclusive first look here), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) will cross paths with fellow defender Iron Fist (Danny Rand), who makes an appearance (here’s a first look at their reunion here). In July, Marvel also announced that Mustafa Shakir (The Night Of) and Gabrielle Dennis (Insecure) joined the cast as comic book villains John McIver, a.k.a. Bushmaster, and Tilda Johnson, a.k.a. Nightshade, respectively. Production wrapped in November.

Marvel’s Daredevil, season 3 (expected 2018)

At the end of Marvel’s The Defenders, Charlie Cox’s Man Without Fear somehow managed to survive the Midland Circle building collapse and was recuperating under the care of some nuns, one of whom was named Maggie, which is his mother’s name. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the miniseries’ ending suggests that season 3 will feature elements from Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s iconic 1986 Daredevil story “Born Again,” which saw the Kingpin ruin Daredevil’s life after learning his identity and features Matt’s mom Sister Maggie. Speaking of the Kingpin, we also know that Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise his role as the crime boss in the new season. Season 3 began production in November under the leadership of new showrunner Erik Oleson (The Man in the High Castle, Arrow).

Marvel’s Iron Fist, season 2 (TBD)

The only thing we know about Iron Fist season 2, which was announced in July, is that Raven Metzner (Sleepy Hollow, Falling Skies) is replacing Scott Buck (Marvel’s Inhumans) as showrunner.
