Punch Trailer Reimagines Child’s Puppet as Head-Smashing Killer
The latest source of childhood joy to be put through the horror reimagining mangler is the Punch & Judy puppet show, as writer/director Andy Edwards’ Punch takes the already aggressive puppet and gives him a bloody, murderous makeover.

Before heading back to university, Frankie craves one final night out in her coastal hometown, but sinister local legend Mr. Punch is on the prowl, and chaos ensues as Frankie and her friends fight for survival in this eerie slasher.
Dread Central had the exclusive trailer for the British slasher movie take on a seaside institution.
Edwards also produced the film alongside Rebecca Matthews. It stars Kierston Wareing, May Kelly, Dani Thompson, and Jamie Lomas.
While there is a growing habit of turning classic childhood favorites into horror regardless of how suitable they are for that kind of adaptation (such as Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey), Punch is one of the better fits for the genre given its penchant for spousal violence.
Punch comes to digital and VOD on January 16, 2023.
