Pumpkins, ghoulish gardens and Día de los Muertos: 7 events for this weekend

Oct. 25—It's kinda scary that October is almost over. But this weekend still has some frightfully fun events up its sleeve.

1How does your garden glow?

The Albuquerque Garden Center is hosting a Halloween Glow N' Stroll from 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The event features 16 ghoulish gardens, a carved pumpkin hill, local music and more. Admission is $5 plus a canned food donation, with children 12 and under free. The ABQ Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE.

2Día de los Muertos

The City Different is holding its 2nd annual Día de los Muertos celebration, 4-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The free event on the Santa Fe Plaza will feature ofrenda adornment, live music, a screening of "Coco" and more. Visit santafe.org/dia-de-muertos for the full schedule. Then, if you need more Day of the Dead festivities, the Museum of International Folk Art, 706 Camino Lejo, is hosting free activities from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29.

3Jump around

FUNBOX is bringing its inflatable fun to the Coronado Center for a limited time. Grand opening weekend is Friday, Oct. 27, through Sunday, Oct. 29, with the bouncing kicking off at 3 p.m. Friday. The weekend features special pricing at $9 for a 90-minute jump session, and a portion of the weekend's proceeds go to benefit New Mexico's Boys & Girls Ranches. 4It's the Great Pumpkin Chase!

You don't have to wait in a pumpkin patch for this Great Pumpkin. The 16th annual Great Pumpkin Chase 10K, 5K and Kids K takes place Saturday, Oct. 28. The event starts at 9 a.m. with runners and walkers taking off from Kit Carson Park, 1744 Kit Carson Ave. SW, in Albuquerque. Registration runs $18-$42, plus fees, at irunfit.org. Prices increase on race day.

5Appraise you

The Valencia County Historical Society is hosting its Antiques Local Road Show at the Belen Harvey House Museum from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. Guests are invited to bring one item — no firearms — to be evaluated by a local guest appraiser. There will be a $5 door donation to benefit the museum. The Belen Harvey House Museum is located at 104 N. First St., in Belen.

6Soup and support

Help Storehouse New Mexico fight hunger in the state. Albuquerque Empty Bowls runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, combining local artists and area restaurants in collaboration for this benefit event. Each $35 ticket includes an artisan bowl to take home, soup, bread, dessert and a drink. Tickets are available at storehousenm.org or at the door. The event takes place at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE.

The Pacific Rim Food Park is hosting a free screening of "The Nightmare Before Christmas." The movie starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.
