Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple orchards offer fall fun in Knoxville and East Tennessee

East Tennessee has entered fall season, bringing vibrant fall foliage, fun festivals to enjoy and plenty of corn mazes to explore and pumpkins to pick.

Several pumpkin patches, apple orchards and corn mazes in our area are open through the end of October. Many feature fun activities for all ages such as hayrides, petting farms, games, food and much more. Or maybe you’d rather have peaceful picnic at an orchard or indulge in tasty treats made with fresh produce of the season.

From apple picking to corn mazes, here are few fun fall things to do this in Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes in East Tennessee

Deep Well Farm Corn Maze

Open until Oct. 29

  • Located just five minutes from West Knoxville in Lenoir City, Deep Well Farm has 35 acres of countryside that’s full of fall fun. Look for corn mazes, hay rides, pumpkin patches, farm animals, huge play areas for kids, areas for picnics and more. There’s even new playground equipment this season.

  • Farm animals, rock climbing walls, mega tube slide, duck pond, tug of war and other activities are available with a ticket for the pumpkin patch.

  • Location: 9567 U.S. 11 E, Lenoir City

  • Price: $13 per person (corn maze only); $15 per person (pumpkin patch and hayride); $22 per person (corn maze, pumpkin patch, and hayride)

  • Hours: 1-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday

Maple Lane Farms Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Open until Oct. 31

  • Maple Lane Farms is hosting its 25th annual corn maze. This year’s maze, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, is in the shape of a cow with a promise that “all pathz leed to chikin.”

  • Hay rides, pumpkins and kiddie mazes also are available. The maze will be haunted nightly starting Oct. 20 through Oct. 31. The haunted maze is not recommended for children under 5.

  • Maple Lane Farms is not a rain-or-shine attraction. If it has recently rained or forecast to rain, check tnmaplelanefarms.com or call 865-856-3511 to see if Maple Lane Farms is open.

  • Location: 1126 Maple Lane, Greenback

  • Corn Maze Tickets: $12 for 12 and older; $10 for ages 5-11; free for 4 and younger. Kiddie maze, $4 for ages 4 and younger, adults are free. Haunted maze: $18 for all. Hayrides: $5 for ages 5 and up; free for ages 4 and younger. Pumpkins: $4-$10 depending on size.

Oakes Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

  • Oakes Farm features a nine-acre corn maze, hay rides, pumpkin patch and over 25 other activities for fall fun. Food is available.

  • General admission tickets include corn maze, hay ride and activities. Prices: $14.95+ (weekdays); $17.95+ (weekends). Pumpkins from the patch are $6.

Echo Valley Corn Maze

  • Three large mazes, a petting zoo, a pumpkin cannon, hay rides and more are featured at Echo Valley this fall.

  • General admission: $15 (includes: mazes, playground, discovery barn and parking). The works: $20 (Includes: mazes, hay ride with free pumpkin, discovery barn/animal feed playground, train ride and parking). Ages 2 and younger are free.

  • It’s no fun unless you get lost. And the “crazy” corn mazes aren’t the only things to enjoy at Ballinger Farm this fall. There are also 20- and 80-foot slides, a bouncing pillow, duck races, pumpkin patches, hay rides and more. Concessions are available on site.

  • Price: $20 admission (includes mazes, rides, pumpkin and all activities). Ballinger is cash or check only. Children 2 and younger are free with a paid adult.

  • Hours: 3-8 p.m. Thursday; 4-10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday; noon-8 p.m. Sunday

Narramore Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

  • Narramore offers plenty of activities for families and groups. In fact, there are more than 20 activities, including a pumpkin patch, wagon rides, train rides, goats, a corn maze and other farm adventures to be discovered.

  • Prices: $14; free for children 2 and younger. $6 for all pumpkins and $6 for corn stalk bundles.

  • This working farm located between the French Broad River and the Great Smoky Mountains has four corn mazes, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, hayrides, a playground and even a haunted trail.

  • The 60-acre farm located between downtown Knoxville and Sevierville features a corn maze, pumpkin patch, sunflower field and other activities like a jumbo jumper, large yard toys and giant bubbles.

Apple orchards in East Tennessee

Buffalo Trail Orchard

Only pre-picked apples are left

Buffalo Trail Orchard is one of the closest apple-picking sites to Knoxville. It’s 34 acres and offers a good view of Chucky Mountain. Apples, plums and pumpkins are available.

There are variety of pre-picked apples still available, including Yellow Delicious, Granny Smith, Goldrush, Pink Lady, Evercrisp, and Sweet Zinger. And there are plenty of pumpkins of all colors and sizes in the pick your own pumpkin patch.

Wheeler’s Orchard

Pick your own

  • Stroll through Wheeler’s Orchard and Vineyard, a family-owned sustainable farm just an hour outside of downtown Chattanooga, and pick your own apples of the sweet, tangy and tart varieties.

  • Arkansas Black, Hardy Cumberland, and Mollies Delicious are just a few of the varieties available. Check their website for other options.
