Feb. 28—ASHTABULA — The Ashtabula Arts Center is scheduled to host Pulitzer Prize winner and Ashtabula native Connie Schultz at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Schultz will be interviewed on stage by Lori Robishaw, former Executive Director of the Arts Center.

"She's someone I've long admired," Robishaw said. "She's had success in many writing genres, but now that she's writing fiction she's in the realm of the arts and creative writing. That's why I thought it would be appropriate for the Ashtabula Arts Center to present her."

In 2005, Schultz won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for columns that judges praised for providing, "a voice for the underdog and the underprivileged," according to pulitzer.org.

Her work has appeared in The Plain Dealer, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, Parade, The Atlantic, ESPN The Magazine and Democracy Journal.

Schultz also wrote the New York Times best-selling novel "The Daughters of Erietown."

Schultz will be signing her new illustrated children's book "Lola and the Troll."

This book is for 4- to 8-year-olds.

"Creative writing is not something we offer very often here," said Marketing and Public Relations Director Amanda Frazier. "To be able to have someone from that field come in and discuss that art form is a wonderful opportunity."

Tickets are $30 for admission, which includes a copy of "Lola and the Troll." Admission only is $10. Admission is free for those 17 and under.

Proceeds will benefit the AAC's educational programming.

The AAC is located at 2928 W. 13th St.
