The rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich gets more attention, but the rivalry between Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 is more intense. The “Revierderby”, which colloquially refers to the battle between the two clubs based in the Ruhr region of western Germany, is one of the most bitter fixtures during any Bundesliga season.

But Thanksgiving isn’t a time for hostilities. It’s a time for togetherness.

United States men’s national teamers Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie spent Thanksgiving together in Germany, as glimpsed on social media, even though Pulisic plays for Dortmund and McKennie plays for Schalke. The duo grew up together in the U.S. Soccer system, with McKennie being a mere 21 days older than Pulisic.

There appeared to be turkey, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, green beans and other delicious offerings for dinner, which was also attended by Dortmund striker Alexander Isak.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from FC Yahoo. And from the future of the U.S. men’s national team.
