Welcome back to Billboard’s weekly video show Real-Time Rewind, which recaps the past week’s notable trends on the Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts –Trending 140 and Emerging Artists — and the news that’s driving the action. This week’s episode takes place at the Billboard Studio in Manhattan, and features Puff Daddy, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne.

So what was happening on the Real-Time Charts this week?

Kendrick Lamar kicked off the BET awards on Sunday, June 28, with a performance of “Alright,” a cut from his Billboard 200 No. 1 album To Pimp A Butterfly. He then dropped the track’s official music video on June 30. Both events sent the song to No. 1 on the Trending 140.

The award show brought together members of the Bad Boy roster, including Puff Daddy, Mase, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, and more, for a 10-minute medley of some of their biggest hits. Puff Daddy closed with a new song, “Finna Get Loose,” featuring Pharrell Williams. The record was then available on Apple music as a part of the streaming service’s launch.

The Apple Music launch was also a big day for Pharrell, whose new track “Freedom” was featured in heavy rotation on its new Zane Lowe-hosted worldwide radio show Beats 1. “Freedom” topped the Trending 140 that day, and over the previous weekend when he performed it at Glastonbury.

Hot 100 artist Charlie Puth lands another song on the Trending 140. “Nothing But Trouble,” featuring Lil Wayne, was released from the soundtrack to 808, a film about the drum machine’s impact on popular music.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
