Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló responds to Trump: ‘If the bully gets close, I'll punch the bully in the mouth’

As tensions escalate between President Donald Trump and Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló over disaster relief efforts that have been slow since Hurricane Maria, Rosselló clapped back in an interview with CNN’s Jim Acosta. When Acosta asked if Rosselló feels like he’s sometimes dealing with a bully in President Trump, Rosselló’s response was swift. If the bully gets close, I'll punch the bully in the mouth,” he said. “It would be a mistake to confuse courtesy with courage.” Some viewers on Twitter didn’t like Rosselló’s comments, perceiving them as a threat.

While other viewers think it’s about time that Rosselló speaks up against Trump.

But there’s a reason that Rosselló, who said he thinks the president treats the citizens of Puerto Rico as “second class,” doesn’t like to engage with Trump.I don't think getting into a kicking and screaming match with the president does any good,” Rosselló said. “I don't think anybody can beat the president on kicking and screaming match.”Rosselló went on to say that the reason he is speaking up now is because he believes that the data the president is getting surrounding the aftermath and relief efforts in Puerto Rico is wrong.“What I am aiming to do is making sure that reason prevails, that empathy prevails, that equality prevails. And that we can have a discussion,” Rosselló said.At This Hour With Kate Bolduan airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on CNN.Check out why Fox News host Tucker Carslon thinks the Jussie Smollett charges were dropped:
