Due to “unforeseen circumstances,” Saturday night’s Bad Bunny concert at Target Center has been canceled.
As of Thursday morning, the event was deleted from the Minneapolis basketball arena’s website, while Ticketmaster’s listing reads: “No action is required to obtain a refund. It will be processed to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, once funds are received from the Event Organizer, which is usually completed within 30 days.”
A Target Center representative did not respond when asked for further comment. Slow ticket sales may have led to Saturday’s cancelation. Earlier in the week, Ticketmaster’s website showed roughly half of the tickets were still available.
The 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer is the first non-English language act to stand as Spotify’s most streamed artist of the year, a role he held from 2020 to 2022, the latter of which also stands as the second biggest streaming year of any artist in Spotify history.
He headlined Minneapolis’ State Theatre in 2018 and began selling out U.S. arenas the following year. In 2022, the three-time Grammy winner set a record for the highest grossing tour in a calendar year, earning $435.38 million across 81 shows. Ed Sheeran previously held the record with $432.3 million in 2018. His current outing has sold out more than a dozen shows so far, including two nights in Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Francisco and three in Los Angeles.
Bad Bunny’s tour, which includes both a live horse and orchestra, has earned warm reviews, with the San Francisco Chronicle noting “it managed to feel pared down and raw, despite its slick, shiny moments” and the Arizona Republic praising its “epic, career-spanning set.”
