Parade of Homes in Sunnyheights

Starting at 952 Peachcrest Drive | noon to 3 p.m. Friday, July 7 and again Saturday, July 8 | The Domega Homes Parade of Homes will feature eight to 10 homes including both new construction and resale homes. Door prizes will be awarded and food trucks will be on site.

First Friday Artwalk at Steel City Art Works

216 S. Union Ave. | 5-8 p.m. | Steel City Art Works is set to host an opening reception for its "Artistic Freedom" art show and celebrate 16 years in business, with complimentary refreshments and cake. In addition, a special show, “Women,” will be on display in the Back Room Gallery. The shows are free to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays throughout July.

Retrospective art show at Liminal Space Gallery

107 S. Grand Ave. | 5-8 p.m. | The First Friday Art Opening will feature the “David R. Edwards: A Retrospective” exhibit. The exhibit is a celebration of 50-plus years of work for Edwards, who was the Fine Arts Department chair at Pueblo Community College until he retired in 2018. He is proficient in several mediums including jewelry, sculpture, photography and painting. Complimentary refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Eclectic Art Celebration at Pueblo Heritage Museum

201 W. B St. | 5-8 p.m. | The "First Friday - Eclectic Celebration with Rhonda Garcia" will celebrate a Pueblo artist who has worked in diverse art styles from painting and sculpture to mixed media. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness the evolution of her artistic journey. Attendees also can explore the museum's permanent collection, which highlights Pueblo's rich cultural heritage. Admission is free.

Truth exhibit and punk show at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | 5-8 p.m. for opening reception, 8-10 p.m. for punk show | The opening reception for the "Truth" exhibit will feature works from 35 local and regional artists that explore the meaning of truth. The exhibit is juried and is set to run through July 31. The punk show will feature Innocent Sinners, No Consent, P.I.D. and Scrotus. Cost is $8 at the door. All ages welcome.

Creative Corridor Jazz Cafe at Pueblo Arts Alliance

107 S. Grand Ave. | 7-9 p.m. | The First Friday Creative Corridor Jazz Café will feature the music of the Sam Pannunzio Trio: including Sam Pannunzio, Scott Webring and Aavalajn Wiggins; with special guest artists Genie Walker and Julie Wiggins. Food trucks will include Papa Mario’s Grilled Cheese, Sam’s Street Tacos, Nana’s Tacos and Paradise Shaved Ice. Tickets are $15 in advance at Eventbrite.com, $20 at the door, or $12 for Pueblo Arts Alliance members. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and catch the Van Gogh Van to visit other galleries in the First Friday Art Walk of Pueblo.

Nuclear Free Pueblo Day of Action at Pueblo County Courthouse

215 W. 10th St. | 4 p.m. rally | The Nuclear Free Pueblo Coalition day of action will include a neighborhood canvass starting at 11 a.m., during which literature will be handed out to inform residents how a nuclear power plant could impact the community. The rally will follow and feature guest speakers. The event is open to the public. For more details contact Michael Wenzl at 719-250-8181.

Concert at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | Doors open at 6 p.m., show from 7-9 p.m. | Pueblo band Strainer takes to the stage to celebrate the release of its new record "Cold Front." The band will be joined by Bruha, Manny and Lost in Woods. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at Blobackgallery.com.

Free movie at City Park

800 Goodnight Ave. | 6:30 p.m. with movie at dusk | Pueblo Parks and Recreation will screen the movie "The Lorax" which is rated PG. Bring the whole family and a blanket or chair to sit on. The big screen will be set up in City Park in the grassy area near The Rides at City Park and the playground. There will be concessions and food trucks on site for snack purchases. The movie is free.

330 Lake Ave. | 5-7 p.m. | Classes also set for July 14, 19 and 21 | Garden to Kitchen is a Colorado State University Cooperative Extension program providing information and tools on how to grow food and cook healthy, easy and tasty recipes for the whole family. It is open to bilingual families and communities. The classes promote an inclusive environment where participants can experiment with sowing and cooking and learn by participating. The classes are free but families should register online.

210 N. Santa Fe | 6 p.m. | The Martini Shot, a local six-piece, horn-powered band will perform pop and rock covers as well as originals. Tickets are $8 in advance at sdc-arts.org or $10 at the door. A $24 ticket covers all three Festival Fridays, which continue July 21 and 28. Seating is limited, so the audience is encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

3455 Nuckolls Ave. | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Bridges Child Placement Agency has partnered with Pueblo Zoo to present Dollar Day at the Zoo. Families can visit the zoo for $1. Full price admission applies after 1 p.m. Bridges Child Placement Agency recruits and trains foster parents to provide foster care to children in Colorado. Bridges seeks to partner with others in the Pueblo community to make a difference serving families throughout Colorado. There may be wait times at entry due to the popularity of this event. Overflow parking is available throughout City Park, at the tennis courts and at the City Park pool. Plan 30 minutes for parking, as volume will be high. Due to the large numbers of expected guests and to reduce the stress on the animals the rainforest area will be closed.
