Psycho comes to A&E
Get ready to fear your shower all again: It’s time to check back in to the Bates Motel. But don’t get scared at the prospect of another tired Psycho movie remake just yet. A&E announced today that, in conjunction with Universal Television, they’ll resurrect cinema’s most iconic lodge for a new scripted series called Bates Motel. The cable network is currently in script development for the series (the script was written by Anthony Cipriano), which according to a statement “will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted back story and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.”
And speaking of those who kill, the network will also bring the popular, critically-acclaimed Danish series Those Who Kill, based on the bestselling books by Elsebeth Egholm, stateside. A&E has secured the U.S. rights for the series, which will be produced by Imagine Television and Fox 21. The series, about a police detective and a forensic psychiatrist who “both in very different ways possess a deep psychological understanding” which leads them to tracking down violent criminals. Executive producer Glen Morgan (The Commish) will also pen the script for the pilot.
