‘PS I Love You’ Sequel ‘Postscript’ to Be Adapted as Film From Alcon Entertainment
Alcon Entertainment has acquired the film rights to “Postscript,” a sequel to the 2003 romance novel “P.S. I Love You” that was adapted into a feature film in 2007 starring Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank, the company’s co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson announced Tuesday.
The follow-up novel from author Cecelia Ahern was published in the UK this past September via HarperCollins and is releasing in the US on Tuesday via Grand Central Publishing.
Alcon produced the 2007 film directed by Richard LaGravenese and it will co-finance and co-produce “Postscript,” along with Black Label Media. Johnson and Kosove will serve as producers, as will Molly Smith and Trent and Thad Luckinbill for Black Label.
No cast has been set for the follow-up feature.

“P.S. I Love You” follows the story of Holly and her husband Gerry, who are tragically torn apart when Gerry dies from a brain tumor. A grieving Holly discovers Gerry has left behind 10 letters designed to help Holly overcome her sorrow and transition to a new life.

“Postscript” picks up on Holly’s story seven years after her husband’s death with Holly having peacefully moved on with her life. However, when Holly’s sister asks her to tell the story of the “P.S. I Love You” letters on her podcast — she does so reluctantly, not wanting to reopen old wounds. Soon after the episode airs, people start reaching out to Holly, and they all have one thing in common: they’re terminally ill and want to leave their own missives behind for loved ones. Suddenly, Holly finds herself drawn back into a world she’s worked tirelessly to leave behind — but one that leads her on another incredible, life-affirming journey.

The 2007 film “P.S. I Love You” made $156.8 million on a $30 million budget in 2007. Ahern’s novel was a best-seller in 2003, and since then, she’s sold over 25 million copies of her novels. Her book “Love, Rosie” was also adapted into a film, and she co-created and produced the ABC series “Samantha Who?” She’s an executive producer on the upcoming series “Roar,” adapted from her book of short stories.
