Protester Catches on Fire as Molotov Cocktails Thrown in Yangon

At least six people were killed in clashes between protesters and security forces in Myanmar on March 17, local media reported.

Those killed included a protester who was shot in the head in Yangon’s Hlaing Township, according to the Irrawaddy.

This footage shows protesters throwing Molotov cocktails over a barrier in Hlaing as loud bangs ring out. One protester’s clothes catch fire as they throw a Molotov cocktail. The protester is tended to by other demonstrators, and eventually the flames on their back are put out with a fire extinguisher.

At least 217 people have been killed and more than 2,000 arrested since Myanmar’s military took power on February 1, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners said. Credit: Tun Linn via Storyful
