Producer John Goldwyn to List Hollywood Regency Above Sunset Strip (EXCLUSIVE)

SELLERS: John Goldwyn and Jeff Klein
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $6.395 million
SIZE: about 3,500 square feet.

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: It’s come to this property gossip’s attention that Tinseltown scion and producer John Goldwyn, whose credits include “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” and high-end boutique hotelier Jeff Klein, owner of the swank Sunset Tower Hotel, are fixing to hoist their photogenic home just above L.A.’s Sunset Strip with an asking price of $6.395 million. Purchased according to property records in late 2005 for $2.815 million, the approximately 3,500-square-foot Hollywood Regency style cottage was designed in 1951 by lauded architect John Elgin Woolf on the estate of legendary filmmaker George Cukor. Woolf, oft heralded as the “architect to the stars,” designed homes for a slew of Golden Age lions including Judy Garland, Cary Grant, and Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy who once occupied the Woolf-designed residence next door to the Goldwyn-Kleins.

Meticulously restored and updated by the couple and featured last year in Architectural Digest, the decidedly glamorous but comfortably livable residence retains many of Woolf design trademarks such as a theatrical Pullman door entry and, in the 14-foot ceiled living room, a white brick fireplace floated in a solid wall of windows. Other features include a cozy den with decorative wall panels installed by the previous owner, interior designer Greg Jordan, and a galley-style kitchen with slab marble counter tops. The garage has been converted into a stylish, state-of-the art oval-shaped screening room replete with suede walls, copper crown molding, and maple-and-oak parquet flooring while the back of the house opens to a petite and private backyard with plunge pool ringed by towering cypress trees.

Goldwyn’s illustrious family has been much in the real estate news lately having recently sold the storied Beverly Hills estate of movie industry pioneer Samuel Goldwyn — he would be John’s grandfather — for $25 million to 25-year old superstar entertainer Taylor Swift.
