‘Prison Break’: Mark Feuerstein Joins Fox Event Series

Royal Pains leading man Mark Feuerstein is set for a major recurring role opposite returning stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell in Fox’s Prison Break event series, a follow-up to the cult 2005 Fox action series that has a straight-to-series nine-episode order.

Feuerstein will play Scott Ness, the husband of Dr. Sara Tancredi, the character played by Sarah Wayne Callies on the original series. Callies is in talks to reprise her role in the follow-up — one of several Prison Break fan favorites in discussions to return along with Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar and Amaury Nolasco. There are no deals in place with any of them.

Feuerstein’s Ness is a new addition to the Prison Break universe. He is a Professor of Economics (Game Theory) at Cornell. On the surface he is the rather anxious professor who is dubious of government, but proves he’s got significant fight in him when up against it.

, which ran for four seasons, centered on Michael (Miller), who was determined to prove the innocence of his convicted brother Lincoln (Purcell) and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape from prison. Lincoln will embark on a new quest in the follow-up series, with the action spanning the U.S. and Yemen.

Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring is behind the new installment. He wrote it and executive produces alongside original producers Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead.

For the past eight years, Feuerstein starred as Hank Lawson on USA Network’s Royal Pains whose final season airs this coming summer. He also recently recurred as Edie Falco’s attorney Barry Wolfe on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. Feuerstein is repped by Framework Entertainment, UTA and attorney PJ Shapiro.
