“Priscilla” star Jacob Elordi thanks Eminem for helping him shake his Australian accent

Jacob Elordi nails Elvis Presley's distinctive drawl in Priscilla, so moviegoers might be surprised to learn that the actor playing the King actually speaks with an Australian accent off screen.
The Brisbane-born performer, 26, has played American characters since the beginning of his career with The Kissing Booth and Euphoria — and he has one rapper in particular to thank for helping him drop his accent on screen.
"I listened to a lot of Eminem, like a terrible amount of Eminem," Elordi said this week on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "It was like Detroit, it was, you know, it had a big sort of thing to it. And I still love that man so much. I feel like more and more, I have to thank him so much for getting rid of the [accent]."

Elordi has been vocal about being an Eminem stan in the past. In a 2021 interview with Esquire, he said he modeled his entire persona after the "Lose Yourself" rapper. "When I was younger, I was infatuated by him," Elordi said. "I got given a Walkman, a disc player, and 'Mockingbird' was on there, and I think I just skipped that track back over and over and over. And then tried to buy all the clothes that he had, tried to talk like him, wanted so bad to be him, and I dreamt of playing him in a biopic, which is just an impossibility."
Elordi also revealed on The Tonight Show recently that his first-ever concert was an Eminem show. "I was 14 years old, slept outside with my mom," he said. "Outside of the concert [venue]. So I could be up front and center. I wept like a baby when he left. It was amazing."
His musical obsessions don't end with Em, though. Elordi told Kelly Clarkson, "Right now, I mean, Bon Iver is my number one favorite thing to listen to. I listen to a lot of David Bowie at the moment. I have this thing with David Bowie, where it's like, overrated, underrated, like he's so rated that you kind of go back and listen to the music and you're like, 'Oh my God, it's really good,' and it sounds silly, though, to say, 'David Bowie's really good at doing music.'"
Elordi described the late "Life on Mars" singer as "an artist across everything," and called Bowie's 1986 movie Labyrinth "the coolest thing ever."
