Priscilla Presley Details Her Reaction to Elvis' Affairs and the 'Vulgar' Time He Signed a Fan's Breast

Presley spoke to fans about her relationship with Elvis at an event on Saturday in Connecticut

Priscilla Presley is looking back on her love life with Elvis Presley — and how "every girl went after him."

During Saturday's ‘An Evening with Priscilla Presley’ event at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut, the 78-year-old actress reflected on some of the highlights of her and Elvis' relationship, as well as some of the difficult aspects of their romance.

"Whether he was going on tour or going to Palm Springs or Vegas, obviously I know there are other things going on as well," Priscilla said at the event, before adding that she discovered a letter for Elvis in their mailbox that described having "the best time" with him when he was on the road.

"When I found that letter, it just ate me up," she added of her former husband, who she was married to from 1967 to 1973.

"I just couldn’t let it go so I called Elvis in Vegas, [road manager] Joe Esposito answered the phone and I said `Joe, I need to talk to Elvis please’. He said `He’s sleeping, what do you need? Is everything OK?' I said `No, not really. I just really need to talk to him.’

After Priscilla confirmed to Esposito that she found a letter she was "not happy about," Elvis eventually called back and asked his partner if she was "snooping" on him, to which she replied: "No, I just opened up the mailbox and there were these letters in there."

"That was the beginning," she said. "He wasn’t happy about that, but I wasn’t happy either. That made me realize that things go on. Listen, there was him and four or five of his guys who were always together, so they’re men, right? And they were all married and they were all fooling around."

"I mean the opportunities were there constantly," Priscilla later added. "Constantly. Even when he would go on the road in other states, they knew he was coming and they were making offers... And don’t get me wrong. I've never not loved Elvis, like, to this day. He was an amazing human being. He had a big heart, but, unfortunately, he was Elvis Presley and every woman, every girl went after him. I can see being him, how he would take it.”

During the Saturday event, Priscilla also touched on Elvis' correspondence with Anita Wood, an actress he began dating before his overseas service in Germany. As Priscilla explained, she wondered if he was "still with" Wood when she found "a pile of letters" from her.

"I was hurt," she recalled. "God, is this still going on and what am I doing here? So I asked Elvis about her and he asked how I knew about her and I said well 'Hello, I can read.' And he said she’s a really good friend and 'Yes, I care for her, but I realized that I’m not in love with her.' I was like, 'OK, that’s an awful lot of letters,' so I was concerned about Anita."

"I thought when he went back to the States he would see her again and surely he did because it was in the paper, she was there waiting for him, and that bothers me a lot," she said.

The actress then said that Elvis told her she'd be seeing "a lot of girls" in the media and that the media would say he was dating them.

"He was a little upset and I said, 'I got it,' " she continued.

Elsewhere in Priscilla's discussion with interviewer Christian Printup, vice president of entertainment at Foxwoods, she detailed her first impressions of Elvis — who she was told not to watch on TV for being "vulgar and disgusting." Nevertheless, she said that she would still watch him perform on The Ed Sullivan Show through the "crack of a door."

"And I thought 'Boy, who was this guy?' He was so gorgeous and the way he moved — of course he got criticized for how his movements were and it was vulgar, and, oh my God, the news was just going ballistic.”

There was also a point early on where Priscilla once considered his actions "vulgar," when a friend showed her an image in a magazine of her future partner signing a fan's breast .

"When she opened up the magazine it had Elvis signing his autograph on a woman’s breast. So I was so disgusted," Priscilla said. "I was like 'Oh my God that is so terrible, that’s so vulgar, I can’t believe it.'”

Priscilla sat down for a similar event in November in Las Vegas, during which she seemingly confirmed the rumor that she made a vow to never marry again as long as her ex-husband Elvis Presley was still alive.

“I just don't think that he could handle that,” she said.

Despite the fact that Elvis died in 1977, Priscilla kept that promise over the past four decades. “To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire,” she said. “No one could ever match him.”

During the chat, the actress also explained why she and Elvis never had a second child after daughter Lisa Marie was born in 1968. “Elvis felt he had a very busy schedule and he did have a bit of guilt that he wasn't around that much when Lisa was younger,” she said. “With his scheduling and his touring, he just felt he wasn't around enough to give a lot of attention to having another child.”

Saturday’s event comes months after she accompanied granddaughter Riley Keough in January to the 2023 Emmy Awards, where Keough was up for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series for Daisy Jones & the Six.

“I Loved being with my beautiful granddaughter at the Emmy’s last night,” Priscilla later wrote on X. “What a talented young woman. I know Elvis would have been very proud! ♥️”

The family outing followed the end of a legal battle that ensued after the January 2023 death of Priscilla’s daughter Lisa Marie. Presley and Keough came to a settlement agreement over the late singer’s trust in May, and it was officially approved by a judge in November.

After reaching the agreement, Priscilla shared a statement exclusively with PEOPLE, expressing that “the Presley family is stronger than ever.”

"As a family, we are pleased that we resolved this together,” the statement read. “My family and I hope that everyone will grant us the privacy we have needed to properly grieve Lisa Marie and spend personal time together. We love and appreciate all of you and the Presley family is stronger than ever.”
