When is posting on social media for fun or for something bigger? That’s the question on the minds of some Instagram followers after Princess Eugenie wished divorced parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson a happy anniversary this week on Instagram.

Eugenie — who has been batting away pregnancy rumors — posted two photos to her Instagram from her parents’ lavish nuptials at Westminster Abbey back on July 23, 1986. She captioned the photo, “😱 who else has ever forgotten to congratulate their parents on their wedding anniversary! I’m a day late but I wanted to celebrate my parents getting married 33 years ago… Thank you for always being the best of friends and bringing us up together.” (Andrew and Fergie’s 33rd wedding anniversary would’ve been Tuesday, July 23 — the day before Eugenie’s Instagram.)

The post fueled talks that the pair — who have a history of reuniting and separating — are back together. Prince Andrew and Ferguson were seen at the Royal Ascot together in June, the same place where they fell in love in 1985. The couple has also been seen on each other’s social media. The couple’s marriage was fraught with issues, including rumors of cheating, before their divorce in 1996.

It’s certainly been a distraction from the last time Prince Andrew was in the news, taking umbrage at his daughters’ removal from the royal payroll. Ferguson has been presumably persona non grata since the couple’s split, though she was invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.

This could all be much ado about nothing. Princess Eugenie could just as easily be wishing her parents a happy anniversary considering she and her sister Beatrice resulted from their union. Regardless of their split, Andrew and Ferguson do share children, and it’s nice that their daughter wants to at least turn their anniversary into something positive. Or you could say it’s her attempt at pulling off a Parent Trap, inspiring them to get back together? Time will tell!
