Love is in the air! Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter is reportedly “head over heels” for her new beau. But who is Princess Beatrice’s boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi? According to People, Mozzi is a friend of Princess Beatrice’s family, and the pair have known each other for years. Princess Beatrice served as the maid of honor for her sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October when she married Jack Brooksbank. Soon after, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson started making public appearances with the 34-year-old multi-millionaire property tycoon. “She’s completely head over heels,” a source told People.

While the couple have known each other for years, the relationship only just became more romantic. Their connection goes back quite some time and is rather intimate. According to Town & Country, Christopher Shale, a British political operative and close friend of previous Prime Minister David Cameron, was Mozzi’s stepfather. Shale tragically died at the Glastonbury music festival in 2011. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson considered Shale a friend, as well. Following Mozzi’s stepfather’s death, the prince, his ex-wife and their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, attended the funeral.
Mozzi was inspired by his stepfather to found the charity Cricket Builds Hope. The organization, which teaches Rwandans how to play cricket, promotes the reconciliation of deep-seated social issues, like gender inequality, through specially tailored sessions run by the foundation’s cricket coaching team, per the organization’s website. Mozzi also has a young son from a previous relationship, which means if the pair tie the knot, Princess Beatrice will also take on the role of stepmother. The princess holds a special place in her heart for organizations that delve into children’s welfare and education. If the transition did come, Princess Beatrice would handle it with royal grace.
The pair made their first official public appearance in March at the gala for the National Portrait Gallery. Since then, the couple have been traveling and spotted everywhere from New York City to Bahrain. Given the amount of unwarranted criticism Princess Beatrice and her sister have faced, seeing the young royal enjoying and thriving in her relationship offers some welcome, happy news. And who knows? Perhaps another royal wedding is on the horizon.
