Princess Anne, Prince Edward and More Royal Family Members Attend King Charles III’s Coronation: Photos

A family affair! King Charles III received an outpouring of support from his royal relatives — including all three of his siblings — during his coronation on Saturday, May 6.

Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, all made their arrivals at Westminster Abbey ahead of the king on Saturday. While Anne, 74, and Edward, 59, were in full royal regalia, Andrew arrived at the coronation in a morning suit. (Amid fallout from his 2019 sexual assault lawsuit, Andrew, 64, was stripped of his military and royal titles after being accused of sexually assaulting Virginia Giuffre when she was a teenager. The prince denied the allegations and the lawsuit was settled out of court.)

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice — Andrew's daughters with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson — walked into Westminster Abbey alongside their cousins Zara Tindall (Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh's eldest daughter) and Prince Harry, who appeared jovial. (The Duke of Sussex, 38, was also dressed in a morning suit, after he was stripped of his military titles in 2020 after stepping down from his position as a senior royal.) The Archewell cofounder sat in the third row of the ceremony behind his aunt and uncles.

Charles, who is the eldest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, took over the British monarchy in September 2022 following the death of his mother. Three months before her death at age 96, Elizabeth celebrated her Platinum Jubilee after ruling for 70 years.

While the king ascended the throne last year, it isn't until the coronation that he will officially be crowned of the U.K. and Commonwealth. During the Westminster Abbey ceremony, Charles’ sister, 72, and his youngest brother, were in attendance.

Prince William, Princess Kate and their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — were also in attendance.

George, 9, was one of the king’s four Pages of Honor. Queen Camilla was also attended to by four pages, three of which were her grandchildren. All the pages took part in the procession through the Nave of Westminster Abbey.

The Duke of Sussex’s family, however, was not present at the ceremony. Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, opted to stay in the U.S. as their son, Archie, turned 4 years old on Saturday. (The couple, who reside in California, also share daughter Lili, 23, months.)

“As much as Meghan appreciates the invite to the coronation, she wouldn’t miss her son’s birthday for the world,” an insider exclusively told Us Weekly last month. “Despite being the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan is a mom first.”

The Bench author, 41, “feels very grateful to be included in such a special occasion by the royal family and is glad that Harry can go and show support on behalf of their family,” the source added.

While the king is “sad” that Meghan couldn’t make the trip, the monarch is “thrilled” that his youngest son, 38, chose to travel solo, a second insider told Us in April. (Harry’s visit to the U.K. comes after his already strained relationship with his family grew even more tense following the release of his bombshell memoir, Spare, in January.)

In addition to the Duchess of Sussex, another relative who did not attend the coronation was Ferguson, 63, who revealed last month that she was not invited to the event.
