Now that the world has been clued into what has been happening with Kate Middleton, fans are focused on Prince William as he shoulders a heavy burden. His father is ill, his wife is ill, and he is the public face of the royal family while trying to comfort his children in what is likely a scary time for them.

The timeline also ends the speculation of the Princess of Wales’ whereabouts and why William canceled his attendance at the memorial of his godfather, King Constantine of Greece. That “personal matter” turned out to be the day that Kate was diagnosed with cancer. It was a diagnosis the couple was “not ready for,” according to an Us Weekly source. His reported reaction to the news left him feeling “helpless and scared” — it’s a time when he has to be everything to many people in his professional and personal life.

BRACKNELL, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 07: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis (C), accompanied by their parents the Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, arrive for a settling in afternoon at Lambrook School, near Ascot on September 7, 2022 in Bracknell, England.

“William is trying to be there for Kate and helping in every way he can,” the palace insider continued. “He’s been doing schoolwork with the kids and spending time with them in the afternoons and evenings.” Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, “know their mother is sick and is trying to get better,” but it’s still a challenging time for all of them.

That’s why the Prince of Wales has struck up an unlikely alliance with Queen Camilla. They are both caregivers to spouses who are battling cancer at the same time. “Seeing Camilla so dedicated to duty, he has developed a most accepting and indeed tender relationship with her,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. “Visible on many occasions, such as his father’s coronation and recently at a public engagement, their formerly strained relationship [has been put aside]… to support the king and Princess Catherine.”

Kate praised her husband in last week’s video for being “a great source of comfort and reassurance” as they process her diagnosis. The recovery will be a long one, and the duo hopes that the rest of her medical journey can remain a private one as they work through the “shock” of what the days and months ahead look like. Prince William may be rattled to the core, but he’s trying to remain strong for everyone leaning on him for strength and courage during Kate’s illness.
