Prince William and Prince George had a boys' night out!

The father and son were spotted in the stands cheering on their favorite soccer team, Aston Villa, as they faced Lille OSC during the UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24 quarterfinal match in Birmingham on April 11. Cameras caught the Prince of Wales, 41, and his son, 10, standing up and clapping, with Prince George sporting a scarf around his neck.

Aston Villa secured the win with a score of 2-1.

Soccer player Tyrone Mings was also photographed near the royals. In June 2023, Prince William and Mings visited Sheffield together (and played some basketball!) to put a spotlight on how sports can connect young people with their communities as part of Homewards, William's initiative to combat homelessness.

Prince William is the president of the Football Association, the governing body of English soccer, and has rooted for Aston Villa for decades.

He once explained, according to The Sun, "A long time ago at school, I got into football big time. All my friends were Chelsea or Manchester United fans, and I didn't really want to follow the run-of-the-mill team. I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. Aston Villa has always had a great history."

The Prince of Wales seems to have passed his favorite team down to his eldest son, who has joined his father at previous games — and they've even pulled matching, enthusiastic expressions as they followed along with the action on the field.

Princess Charlotte is a known fan of the Lionesses, England's national women's team, appearing alongside her dad to wish them luck in big tournaments.

During a 2022 visit with the women's team, Prince William called his 8-year-old daughter a "budding star" in soccer. "Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal," William told the athletes. "She said, 'Please tell them that.' "

Meanwhile, 5-year-old Prince Louis is "mad" about rugby, according to his mom, Kate Middleton.

"We're always slightly competitive with each other. They all love sport, and Louis is mad about rugby," the royal mom said of her three children in 2023. "They are at an age where they just love running around."

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are currently on a school break surrounding Easter, and they've been spending time privately with Prince William and Princess Kate. On March 22, the day classes let out for vacation until mid-April, the Princess of Wales, 42, revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer.

Princess Kate directly addressed the impact of her health news on her family in her personal video message, outlining, "William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."

"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok," the Princess of Wales said. "As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."

On April 10, Prince William returned to social media for the first time since Kate's cancer news for another soccer-related reason: the international retirement of Rachel Daly, a star player on Aston Villa and the Lionesses.

"Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @Lionesses@RachelDaly3," William wrote on the official X account he shares with his wife.

"Plenty more goals for Villa now!" he added, referring to Daly's plans to continue playing at the club level, signing the note with a "W" to indicate the message came directly from him.
