Prince William & Kate Middleton Weren't the Royal Family Members to Make This Telling Gesture on the Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's Death

One year ago today, the world lost the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom: Queen Elizabeth II. And as we take this day to honor the late monarch’s incredible legacy, members of the royal family are doing the same as they honor their former sovereign, mother, grandmother and much more.

Leading the celebrations on Sept 8 were Prince William and Kate Middleton, who traveled to Wales for a service honoring the late Queen at St. Davids Cathedral. In their appearance, in addition to greeting fans who were waiting for them outside, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a moment of silence honoring the late monarch.

Before the touching moment, Middleton also placed a beautiful bouquet of white flowers next to a portrait of the Queen, People reports. What a beautiful gesture!

“A moment of reflection at St Davids Cathedral honoring Her Late Majesty and all that she did for communities like this around the UK, the Commonwealth and the world,” the royal couple wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) alongside pictures of them at the service.

For the occasion, Middleton looked as elegant as ever in a burgundy coat dress from Eponine London and a matching bow-topped hat. William, for his part, wore a classic navy suit and blue tie.

Although Middleton and William’s appearance today was the official one on behalf of the royal family, another family member made sure to mark the occasion. As reported by Telegraph, Prince Harry also honored his grandmother in a touching way on Friday.

Per reports, the Duke of Sussex privately visited St George’s Chapel, located inside of Windsor Castle, to pay his respects (find pictures of the moment HERE!). As many royal fans will know, St George’s Chapel is where the late Queen was buried last year alongside her husband, Prince Philip, and many other royal family members.

As it turns out, Harry was already visiting London for the WellChild Awards and decided to visit his grandmother’s burial site to honor the anniversary of her death.

Unsurprisingly, there are no reports of Harry and the rest of his family meeting or celebrating the date together. But, despite their ongoing tensions and reported feud, we’re just glad that all members of the royal family paid their respects in their own way.
