Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Reported 2024 Plans Indicate They’re Expanding to the Global Stage

2023 was a major year for Prince William and Kate Middleton. The couple took on more responsibilities as senior members of the royal family, tended to their individual and joint projects and ventures as the Prince and Princess of Wales, and focused on raising their three young children. With the start of 2024 just days away, the couple already has their sights set on plans for the year ahead, and it reportedly includes a major trip overseas.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are planning a trip to Rome, Italy, according to a report from the Daily Mail via People. Trips outside of the United Kingdom weren’t a major priority for the couple in 2023. According to the report, Kate did not travel overseas in an official capacity this year, while William traveled to Poland to meet with British troops and refugees on the Ukrainian border and to Singapore for his Earthshot Prize initiative.

The monarchy entered a completely new chapter when King Charles III ascended to the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. As such, Kate and William’s prominence and place in the royal family and on the global stage has only grown. They’re far more visible now than they were in previous years.

It hasn’t all been good, though. The couple has fended off or ignored rumors, been met with more scrutiny, and likely felt the pressure of their new roles. They reportedly still have regrets from their 2022 tour of the Caribbean. But taking their slated international trip in 2024 may indicate something even greater about their plans.

If the reported trip to Rome comes to fruition, it will surely demonstrate that Kate and William are ready to make their presence known on the global stage, and further the monarchy’s reach on an international level. They may also want to put their Caribbean tour behind them by way of this official international visit. While they’ll continue to balance their respective endeavors, an overseas trip might be one of the biggest highlights of their forthcoming year. The trip could yield a tremendous amount of insight into where the monarchy stands globally in the year ahead.
