Update on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s plans to move to Windsor: Apparently, it’s happening ASAP. The Sun reports that the royal couple is hoping to move this summer and looking at private homes in the area due to properties in the ~royal collection~ being in use already.

So…why the move? Aside from wanting to be closer to the Queen, there are reportedly concerns among the royals that Her Majesty is spending too much time with her disgraced son Prince Andrew—who lives right next to her.

“He lives next door and is always there for her. During the Covid lockdown, the family were glad Andrew was always on hand,” a source tells The Sun. “There is not a man, woman, or child who would not say he had every right to be at Philip’s thanksgiving. But the family have been adamant there’s no way back. There are real fears that despite being banished from the Firm in January, he is using his closeness to the Queen as a springboard back into public life.”

Sounds like there’s reason for concern considering the immense backlash the Queen faced after allowing Andrew (a friend of Jeffrey Epstein’s who was accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre) to escort her at Prince Philip’s recent memorial. At the time, sources reported that the decision left Prince Charles and Prince William “shocked” and “dismayed.” (FYI: Andrew and Giuffre reached an out-of-court settlement in the sexual assault lawsuit back in February.)

As far as Andrew’s closeness to the Queen goes, he lives in the Royal Lodge—which Wills and Kate “checked out” as an option to move into but had to reject because Andrew would “not budge.” In fact, he apparently negotiated a 75-year lease on the 31-bedroom home for £1 million in 2003.

TBD on where the Cambridges end up, but apparently, Prince Charles is also trying to spend more time at Windsor and is “carrying out some of Philip’s old roles as ranger.”
