Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Anniversary Post Has Fans Up in Arms for This Unique Reason

It feels like yesterday when we were all waking up early and turning on our TVs to watch the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011. But years of public service, fantastic looks and three kids later, the two are celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary.

To mark the occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a never-before-seen picture of them on Instagram from their wedding day. In the black-and-white picture (which you can see HERE!), the newlyweds smile softly at the camera in their wedding attire while William rests his hands on Middleton’s waist.

“13 years ago today!” the caption reads.

And while the picture is undoubtedly beautiful, commenters were quick to call out an aspect of the picture: why is it in black and white? For many, the color filter made their hearts race thinking it was some sort of bad news related to Middleton’s health. As a reminder, the mom of three announced her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment in late March.

“You DO NOT post b&w pics of your missing wife like that if she’s not dead, man,” one commenter wrote, writing to William. “The PR team has issues,” another follower wrote. “You know the situation, so posting photos in black & white is going to ring unnecessary alarm bells.”

And while these complaints are valid, after all black-and-white photos can indeed be used in times of tragedy, luckily today’s post had no bad news about the Princess, who has taken a step away from public duties for the time being.

Also in the comments, followers still celebrated the couple’s anniversary milestone. “Congratulations! It was a great day for many of us!” wrote one follower. “Happy anniversary William and Catherine 🥹 the beginning of one of the best partnerships the Royal family has ever seen!” wrote another.

Kudos to the happy couple for their big day! May their PR team continue to learn from their mistakes…
