Prince William, who has had to step up in the wake of both his wife Kate Middleton and his father King Charles' cancer diagnoses, reportedly "shut down for a couple of days" after learning about their health, according to a source close to the British royal family.

The source recently spoke with Us Weekly about the ongoing situation, claiming that William took a break for a few days after Kate's diagnosis to spend time with her, then "picked himself back up again because he knew it was up to him to be strong for the whole family."

But that doesn't mean that William isn't facing personal difficulties during the tough situation, with royal biographer Tessa Dunlop saying, "There’s a lot at stake, and he does need support," while mentioning that he is also taking care of the couple's three kids and the situation might've brought up memories of his mother Princess Diana's death.

Feeling an "immense responsibility," as another source claimed, the palace is allegedly "backing off and giving [William] space," as "he clearly has a lot on his mind," said the first source.

Thankfully, it appears that William has a good support system, with one of the sources reporting that William and Kate are in "solidarity" and that the princess is doing "well" as she gets treatment for her cancer.

Kate has been out of the spotlight since the start of the year when it was reported that she was in the hospital for a scheduled surgery, but when there were no updates in the weeks after, the public started gossiping and spreading conspiracy theories.

The princess eventually shared a video at the end of March in which she revealed her cancer diagnosis, calling it a "huge shock" for herself and William, before explaining that she started "preventative chemotherapy" at the advice of her doctors.

Since then, Kate has remained under the radar, and William took another break after the reveal to stay by her side. He marks his return to royal duties on April 18.
