Prince Harry and his brother Prince William may have a complicated relationship, but, on Friday, the two came together for a charity in honor of their mother.

The royal brothers each made appearances at the 2023 Diana Awards, a ceremony which honors young people working to make the world a better place.

William, 41, spoke in a pre-recorded segment that aired at the start of the awards, named for princes' late mother, Princess Diana, which streamed on YouTube Friday.

He commended 2021 Diana and Legacy Award recipient Hannah Hodgson, as well as the other young people honored in the ceremony, for the "challenges they have overcome to get here."

"To everyone watching, these stories remind us why organizations like The Diana Award are so important," he said. "It is a reminder that when we invest in young people, when we provide them with the tools and opportunities to make a difference, they can truly change the world. A belief shared by my mother, and one I am proud to continue in her name.”

Harry, 38, spoke later in the broadcast in a separate pre-recorded segment, alongside 2021 Diana and Legacy Award recipient Vee Kativhu.

"When someone steps up to be of service, they automatically join this collective. No one is ever a conduit for change alone. Each one of us has the ability to help create a more equitable world," Harry said. "The brilliant award recipients we’re honoring today are proof of that. They exemplify the notion that when we use our voices, change can happen."

Harry and William previously reunited at the coronation of their father, King Charles III, in May.

Following the conclusion of the coronation ceremony, questions turned to whether Harry would join the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace as Charles greeted subjects. He did not − the family members who appeared on the balcony were all working royals; Harry stepped back as a senior member of the royal family in 2020.

The past few years have brought to light the complicated relationship between the next heir to the British throne, William, and his younger brother, referred to as the Spare in the palace growing up, as Harry recounted in his tell-all memoir earlier this year.
