Prince Harry Sings 'The Sound of Music' to Young Canadians on Royal Visit

Prince Harry is in full-on dad mode right now and that includes brushing up on his dad jokes. Case in point: Harry was heard singing “So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music during a visit with young Canadians earlier this week that was as surprising as it was spontaneous and oh-so-adorable.

According to Us Weekly, Harry and his (currently very) pregnant wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were visiting Canada House in London to meet a group of young Canadians for a Commonwealth Day Youth Event in London on March 11. The prince could not resist the opportunity to sing an iconic line from the film The Sound of Music when he was saying goodbye to a staircase packed with young, fresh-faced Canadians.

Producer Lizzie Robinson caught Harry’s musical theatre mood at Canada House on video and posted on Twitter. The clip shows Meghan grinning at her husband’s dad humor as he sings the super short lyric. We think she’s getting used to him and his impromptu musical theatre moments.

“Harry sings a few lines from the famous Sound of Music song ‘So Long, Farewell’ to a staircase lined with young Canadians as the couple depart Canada House,” Robinson wrote about the video, which will no doubt become a memorable Harry moment.

This isn’t the first time the prince has burst into musical theatre mode: Remember when Harry sang some “Hamilton”?

Back in August 2018, Harry thrilled the London cast of Hamilton (and its creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda) at a benefit for Botswana. The prince sang the first notes of King George III’s song “You’ll Be Back” — which, as Miranda noted at the performance, was especially nifty considering Harry is actually a direct descendant of King George III.

All in all, we are totally down with the dad humor, fair prince. Keep it up. You will soon have a little one who will grow into a medium one who enjoys rolling his or her eyes at you on the regular.
