Baby Archie’s birth was only a couple months ago, but we’re already halfway done with completing the Sussex family. In an interview with Jane Goodall for his wife’s British Vogue issue, Prince Harry revealed that he wants two kids maximum with Meghan Markle. So, sorry, royal fans who expected the Duke and Duchess to run around with a bunch of Sussex babies for years to come, looks like Meghan and Harry are done with one more after Archie.

Prince Harry revealed his and his wife’s baby plans in British Vogue’s September issue — which was guest-edited by his wife, the Duchess of Sussex. The issue featured shakers and makers in Hollywood and politics, like Jameela Jamil, Laverne Cox and Gemma Chan. (It was also accused of copying a book that Markle was featured in.) The Duke of Sussex’s baby plans came up while talking to Goodall — whom he recently gave a chimpanzee hug to — about the environment and where it’s headed. “Two children, maximum,” he said. “What we need to remind everybody is: These are things that are happening now. We are already living in it. We are the frog in the water and it’s already been brought to the boil. Which is terrifying.”

After Goodall described climate change as “terrifying” — especially given the prince had “just had a baby” — Harry responded, “I know. It does make it different. I think, weirdly because of the people that I’ve met and the places I’ve been fortunate enough to go, I’ve always had a connection and a love for nature.”

He continued, “I view it differently now, without question. But I’ve always wanted to try and ensure that, even before having a child and hoping to have children…”

That’s when Goodall interrupted him and said: “Not too many!”

But Harry assured her that he wasn’t thinking of having many more after Archie. “Two, maximum!” he said. “But I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.”

Though we’ll miss seeing another Sussex baby running around Kensington Palace, we understand Harry’s perspective. Climate change is real, and it’s stressful to think about raising a child in a world that’s changing so rapidly. But hey, at least we have baby Archie and (possibly) another Sussex baby to ogle at in the future.
