Since moving from the United Kingdom to the United States roughly four years ago, Prince Harry is leading a completely different life. The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, are working on joint and independent business ventures together while raising their two childrenPrince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2. But since Harry’s been in America for so long, there is one step he could take to make the country officially his new home, and he opened up about it in a recent interview.

During his chat with Will Reeve’s on Good Morning America, Harry revealed whether or not he’d ever make his citizenship in the U.S. official. Harry described his time in the United States as “amazing. I love every single day.” He did admit, however, that he doesn’t quite feel American. “I don’t know how I feel,” he said.

Once Reeve asked whether or not Harry would ever consider becoming an American citizen, Harry offered a surprising answer. “I have considered it, yea,” the Duke of Sussex said. Skillfully dodging a follow-up question, Harry turned the focus back on the servicemen and women attending the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebration.

Becoming a citizen of the United States would be a major step for Prince Harry. Honesty, we wouldn’t be surprised if he did or even if he didn’t. Right now, it’s clear he has other priorities that are front-of-mind, including his father King Charles III’s ongoing cancer treatment.

The Duke of Sussex visited with his father just over a week ago. While some royal insiders believe their reunion could spark a reconciliation, at least between Harry and his father, others feel we may never see Harry and his brother Prince William ever meet on common ground again. But, as Harry himself said, his life and family are here in the United States. We’ll see what that means for his future.
