Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Birthday Phone Call to King Charles III Might Signal a Fresh Start

King Charles III’s milestone birthday was not only a celebration of his 75 years, but it also might mark a thawing in the family feud that has been going on for far too long. On Tuesday, Prince Harry and his estranged father finally connected after over six months of silence between them.

The “warm conversation” is a huge shift from the frosty relations that have played out in the press, according to The Telegraph, and Meghan Markle even joined in to honor her father-in-law’s big day. They reportedly shared a video with Charles that sweetly showed Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, singing “Happy Birthday” to their overseas granddad. This loving gesture is the first indication that both sides are ready to come to the table and find a place of forgiveness.

The Sun is also noting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “made plans” to speak with Charles again soon which would be a wonderful bonus to his birthday celebrations. If the couple can keep the lines of communication open with the palace, it might create more opportunities for the families to get together. “There is still a long way to go to mend the rift created over many years — and the deeper issues caused by allegations in the Netflix series and Spare are not healed with a phone call,” a royal source told the media outlet.

There seems to be one person who will not be joining the family reconciliation train, though: Prince William. He reportedly is done with his brother and doesn’t feel the need to open the door again to welcome him back. If Charles can broker peace with Prince Harry, then Prince William will have to find it in his heart to find that same level of forgiveness, but only time will tell.
