With the decision in the books for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to move to North America and relinquish their responsibilities as senior members of the royal family, there are still so many unanswered questions. Primarily, though, who is really taking the responsibility of deciding to move away and break off from the family?
With many theories abounding, some people believe Markle was behind the decision, as the media's negative coverage of her was too overbearing, while others believe Prince Harry was trying to prevent a possible reoccurrence of what happened to his mother, Princess Diana, when she was killed in a car accident, attempting to flee the paparazzi.

The Decision to Step Back Was Made Together
According to a recent report, Harry is taking on all the responsibility behind the decision to step back from the royal family and move to North America, in an effort to protect Markle from any further public outrage. Royal expert, Katie Nicholl, spoke with Entertainment Tonight and gave her take on who actually is assuming responsibility.
"He said it was his decision to walk away and that really he had no choice," Nicholl told the outlet. "This was a joint decision and I think Prince Harry's been very magnanimous by taking it all on himself. I think he's simply doing that to protect Meghan." The comments by Nicholl refer to a speech that Harry gave during a Sentabale Charity dinner this past Sunday.
Prince Harry Gives Candid Speech at Charity Dinner in London
During the charity dinner, Harry gave a very candid and open speech, expressing why he believed he had no other choice, but to take a step back and move to North America. He also reassured the people in the room that the U.K. was still his home.
"Before I begin, I must say that I can only imagine what you may have heard, or perhaps read, over the past few weeks," he began. "So, I want you to hear the truth from me -- as much as I can share, not as a prince or a duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the past 35 years, but now with a clearer perspective."
'It Was So Many Months of Talks After So Many Years of Challenges'
The former Duke of Sussex would go on to thank those at the charity dinner for supporting him over the years and welcoming Meghan when they first got married. He even threw in a little joke to lighten the mood. "The U.K. is my home and a place that I love. That will never change," he stated. "I have grown up feeling supported by so many of you, and I watched as you welcomed Meghan with open arms, as you saw the love and happiness that I had hoped for all my life. Finally, the second son of Diana got hitched, hooray!"
"The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly," he continued. "It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven't always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option. What I want to make clear is, we're not walking away, and we certainly aren't walking away from you."
The Term 'Megxit' Leading to the Wrong Conclusion
With the decision to leave the United Kingdom being dubbed 'Megxit', many in the public have come to the conclusion that it was Markle's sole decision to move to North America. However, this does not seem to be the case, according to the royal experts. "I think Harry has been looking for a way out -- a way for a new life -- and Meghan has simply been the catalyst," they said to Entertainment Tonight. "But make no mistake -- this was a joint decision. Harry didn't make it on his own and Meghan didn't force him into it."
