Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a tough year. Although Markle knew that marrying a prince and becoming a member of the Royal Family wouldn't be easy, she didn't think she would have the struggles she has today. She thought she would be able to adopt the British "stiff upper lip" attitude. However, Markle things that it would be more harm than good for her and her family.
Because of the things, the couple has been through, mainly Markle since she wasn't born into the Royal Family, does this mean their Royal duties are causing them to live a 'life sentence?'
Markle has really had it rough seeing as how she wasn't born into the Royal Family. Although she was already in the public spotlight and used to the media attention since she was an American actress before she married Prince Harry, she isn't used to this much attention. The kind of attention she is getting now is beyond anything she ever imagined, to begin with, even though she was expecting some extra attention in her life once she married a prince.
The type of attention Markle is getting now is not nice. The media is actually spreading lies about her. They are also criticizing the way she raises her child. The thing is, though, is the way they are spreading lies about her and criticizing her for the way she takes care of baby Archie. The things they are criticizing her for are the exact things they are praising Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife. Why? Do they not like Markle for some reason? This is highly unlikely but is a possibility.
Prince Harry has been doing everything he can to stand up for his wife. Even going as far as bringing lawsuits against two different media outlets for the lies they are spreading about her. He has a lawsuit pending against the UK's media outlets including the Sun and the Mirror. Markle also has a lawsuit pending against the UK's Mail.
Although they have had a rough year, does this mean they are sentenced to this kind of life for the rest of their lives because of being members of the Royal Family?
Unfortunately, for them, it does mean they are serving a 'life sentence' in the spotlight of the media and in the public eye. Markle does understand this, but it doesn't mean she has to like it. However, she will always be with Prince Harry because of her love for him.
Markle has been under so much pressure from the media and being in the eye of the public and says, "I’ve said for a long time to H — that’s what I call him — it’s not enough to just survive something. That’s not the point of life. You’ve got to thrive, you’ve got to feel happy. I think I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip. I tried. I really tried. But I think what that does internally is probably really damaging."
And although she doesn't like the way she has had to live, she has been handling it pretty well for being under as much scrutiny and pressure that she has been under. The Archbishop of Canterbury paid them a visit and got to meet baby Archie. When paying the Sussex's a visit, he said he noticed how much of a remarkable person Markle really is for putting up with the amount of things she has had to put up with living the Royal lifestyle.
The Archbishop said, "She's a person of profound humanity and deep concern for people, seeking to carry out her role with every ounce of her being, and I think she’s a remarkable person.”
He continued to praise her saying, "They (the royal family) are born into it and one of the things, with the great privilege of meeting some of them, that I’m most aware of is their sheer sense of duty and commitment, which means they know this is a life sentence.”
Living as a member of the Royal Family means it is a 'life sentence' for every single one of them. Prince Harry and Prince William were born into this lifestyle. As for Meghan Markle, she was a little used to the media from living as an actress in the states. Kate Middleton, on the other hand, was just a regular young woman before marrying Prince William. Yes, she was born into a rich family but that doesn't mean she wasn't 'normal' whatever normal really is. Now that she is a part of the Royal Family, she is always under the radar of the public eye.
