Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Have Reportedly Received ‘No Apology’ From Royals
In the weeks since Prince Harry’s memoir Spare came out, Meghan Markle and Harry have both stepped back from the spotlight. The royal family, meanwhile, has publicly ignored the book and the couple’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. Could there be a different story behind the scenes, with peace talks secretly happening between the two parties? Us Weekly reports that no, despite all the couple has shared about the royal family’s mistreatment of them, the royals haven’t apologized behind closed doors.
“No apology to Meghan has been made by the Palace, which frustrates Harry. Nor has he received a personal apology,” a source told Us Weekly. “He was hoping his family, especially William, would lay their cards on the table and have an open conversation with him, but they haven’t made progress.”
A second source said that it’s going to be necessary for the two camps to meet and discuss things privately if their relationship is ever going to improve. “At this point, the royals can only move forward and come to some form of truce with Harry if everyone sits down and talks through their issues privately,” the source said. “Despite everything that’s happened, Harry does want his family in his life.”
Harry spoke in his Netflix documentary about accepting the fact that he may never never fully make peace with his family. “I’ve had to make peace with the fact that we’re probably never going to get a genuine accountability or a genuine apology,” he said. “My wife and I, we’re moving on. We’re focused on what’s coming next.”
He added that this all feels like it was supposed to happen in his life. “There’s times when I’ve been angry, but I can’t be that angry because I genuinely feel that I, and we, are exactly where we’re supposed to be,” he said. “We’ve made it to the other side.”
