One of the perks of being a princess is getting to wear a sparkly tiara. They are just so beautiful and shiny and regal! But will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet “Lili” Diana get the same honor, even after her parents stepped down from royal duties? Insiders think that Princess Lili will get to wear a tiara — on one very special occasion.
Because royals are so fond of traditions, Hello! Magazine looked back at what some other royals who aren’t considered “senior working royals” have done. And Prince Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie (9th and 11th in line to the throne) both wore tiaras on their wedding days!

According to the outlet, Princess Beatrice wore Queen Mary’s Diamond Fringe tiara for her ceremony to Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, which were the same jewels the late Queen Elizabeth wore on her wedding day to Prince Philip. Princess Eugenie sore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara on her wedding day to Jack Brooksbank in 2018.
Princess Lili, who is currently 7th in line to the throne, will likely be loaned a tiara by her grandfather King Charles when she gets married. If she does, it’ll be interesting to see if she chooses the same tiara her mom wore on her wedding day in 2018, Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau tiara, or Princess Diana’s Spencer tiara, which Lili’s late grandmother wore in 1981 when she married the now-king. Of course, there are many other tiaras to choose from in the late Queen’s extensive collection going back generations.
However, if and when Lili gets married, she may have to ask permission to wear the Spencer tiara from her cousin, Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton. A source told GoodToKnow previously that the now-8-year-old will have “the pick of the palace jewels” when she comes of age, and her dad wants her to have the Spencer tiara specifically. “William is close with his uncle [Earl Charles Spencer] and has asked if his mother’s namesake tiara can be given to Charlotte someday,” the insider revealed.
“William is quite aware the Earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first granddaughter,” they added. Of course, Lili could still borrow it for her own wedding day!
