Said Tagliavini: “I loved the script. It was weird and hilarious yet also spiritual. And it allowed me to use interesting VFX and create original visuals, which is always a fun challenge!”

“Tequila Repasado” revolves around a workaholic who finds himself repeatedly transported back in time by a mystical tequila, forcing him to outsmart his multiplying selves as he struggles to mend his relationships with his family.

The title, which roughly means Tequila Reviewed, is a play on the term Tequila Reposado, which is for a specific type of tequila, Aged Tequila.

“I thank my Sony family: Shebnem Askin, Raymundo Diaz Gonzalez, and Philip Alexander for believing that diversity is a great business,” added Tagliavini who is Argentine while her stellar cast is Mexican, led by Sebastián Zurita, Miguel Rodarte, Ludwika Paleta, Paulina Gaitán and Mauricio “Diablito” Barrientos.

“Tequila Repasado” was produced by Santiago Garcia Galvan (“Captive,” “Desierto”), Fernando Perez Gavilan (“From Prada to Nada”) and Lety Camacho (“God is a Bullet”). Its Argentine composer, Emilio Kauderer, worked on such notable pics as the Oscar-winning “The Secret in their Eyes.”

Tagliavini is best known for her two movies that were #1 in the box-office in Mexico: the 2003 romcom written by Issa Lopez and Ignacio Darnaude, “Ladies Night,” which topped the box office for that entire year in Mexico and the 2017 “How to Break up with Your Douchebag,” that was #1 in the Mexican box office, beating “Blade Runner 2.”

She’s previously made two original pics for Netflix: “Despite Everything,” the #1 movie on Netflix in Spain for the year of 2019, and last year’s “Christmas With You,” which dominated the streaming giant’s charts in 26 countries and was in the top 10 of 80 countries on Netflix.

Tagliavini will be at Ventana Sur to pitch her series “Hotel de Divorcios Exprés,” one of the five selected by Netflix to participate in the confab’s SoloSerieS Pitching Sessions on Nov. 30.

These five were picked out from various projects submitted from the U.S., Latin America and Spain. The winning project is awarded $5,000 towards the development of the series.
