'Price is Right' winner wears 'DEWEY' shirt; Drew Carey has never heard of Delaware town

"Is Dewey a college?"

Oh, Drew, you have no idea.

When Xavier Bradley made it onstage on Friday's episode of "The Price is Right," he was wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the name of a certain Delaware beach town: "DEWEY."

"It's a beach in Delaware," he told host Drew Carey.

"I thought it was a college, but that's an education," Carey responded.

Bradley, 26, grew up in the Wilmington area and went to Mount Pleasant High School, he said when reached by phone. He spent time in Dewey "mostly in high school and college, spending time with friends going to bars," he said. (We can relate.) He moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California and now lives there, working in event production.

Friday's "The Price is Right" episode was taped about two months ago when Bradley's mom was in town visiting. They made the decision to go to the taping, along with Bradley's girlfriend, the day before. At the last minute, a few Dewey shirts they had were their only matching option.

Living in Los Angeles, Bradley had been in the "Price is Right" audience for a taping before. He didn't get to play, he said, but learned some things about the show.

"They kind of audition people," Bradley said. "So I was over and above my normal energy. I made a spectacle of myself!"

It worked. They called his name in the first half of the show.

"I was hyped," Bradley said.

His bid on some luggage got him up on stage, but unfortunately, he lost out on trips to Ireland and Morocco in "Bargain Game." Then he spun 95 cents on the wheel, sending him to the "Showcase Showdown."

He won the show's biggest prize: a cargo-carrying robot, a spa trip to Arizona and a Kia K5 GT-Line worth $37,501.

"They cut my favorite moment, where my mom and girlfriend came up and we had a really nice hug," Bradley said. "I was in their ear like, 'Is this really happening? Did I just win a car?'"

He got to take home his luggage and robot, he said, and expects to be contacted about his trip and car soon. He also got a license plate cover that says "I won this car on 'The Price Is Right.'"
