‘The Price Is Right’ Bob Barker Tribute, ‘America’s Got Talent’ Top This Week’s Broadcast TV Viewership

CBS’ “The Price is Right” Bob Barker tribute and the second round of live qualifiers episode for NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” scored the highest viewership of this week’s broadcast TV programming.

Picking up from last week’s first live shows of the season, the Tuesday and Wednesday airings of “America’s Got Talent” drew in 5.51 and 5.0 million viewers, respectively, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures. The two episodes stand as the most-watched programs across primetime from last Friday to Thursday, per TheWrap’s weekly broadcast TV ratings breakdown of the top 10 highest-rated and most-watched programs of the week.

Behind the NBC reality competition show was CBS’ Thursday airing of “The Price Is Right: A Tribute to Bob Barker,” which scored the third highest viewership of the week with 4.33 million total viewers as the Drew Carey-hosted special honored the over 50 year career of the TV legend.

Football games took the fourth and fifth slots on the top viewership list, with Thursday’s Nebraska vs. Minnesota game on Fox scoring 3.49 million total viewers while last Friday’s NFL pre-season game on CBS totaled 3.44 million total viewers.

CBS procedural shows took the last few spots of the list, with the Wednesday airing of “NCIS” scoring the No. 6 viewership of the week with 3.42 million total viewers, while “NCIS: Hawaii” on Monday took ninth place with 3.30 million total viewers and “FBI” on Tuesday taking the last spot on the Top 10 list with 3.22 million total viewers.

Unscripted shows “Big Brother” and “American Ninja Warrior” also appeared on the list in the seventh and eighth spots with 3.33 million total viewers and 3.30 million total viewers, respectively.

As expected, sports dominated this week’s ratings, with the Nebraska vs. Minnesota game on Fox earning the highest rating of the week with a 0.82 rating in the key broadcast demographic among adults 18-49.

WWE’s “Friday Night Smackdown,” which paid tribute to recently deceased wrestlers Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk, scored the second highest rating of the week with a 0.78 score while last Friday’s pre-season game took the N0. 3 spot on the list with a 0.67 rating for Fox.

Both the Wednesday and Thursday airing of “Big Brother” made the list, with the Wednesday episode coming in fourth place with a 0.60 rating while the Thursday airing came in sixth pace with a 0.57 rating. Likewise, the Tuesday airing of “America’s Got Talent” took the No. 5 spot on the list with a 0.58 rating while the Wednesday airing of the NBC competition show came in eighth place on the list with a 0.46 rating.

Unscripted shows filled out the rest of the list, with “The Price Is Right: A Tribute to Bob Barker” scoring the seventh highest rating of the week with a 0.49 score, while “American Ninja Warrior” came in ninth place with a 0.44 rating and Fox’s “MasterChef” took the last spot on the list with a 0.35 rating.
