Pretty Much Every A-Lister Owns This $200 Tank Top (and It's On Sale Now)

Since few celebrities aim to make it into a Fashion Faceoff, a piece has to be pretty special to make multiple appearances on multiple stars. Seeing a gorgeous shoe or a great pair of jeans on two stars piques our interest. Seeing an item on three celebrities gets a place in our Déja Vu gallery. But for the same piece to make it onto 11 of the biggest names in Hollywood? It’s almost unheard of – which means that the A.L.C. “Ali” top has officially achieved legendary status.

The sleeveless, stretchy crop top seems to have made its first red carpet appearance on Nicole Richie (above, far left) in October 2014. Sarah Hyland quickly followed suit in the blush version, giving it a similar treatment with a midi skirt and pumps. And it only got more popular from there. Taylor Swift was snapped leaving dinner wearing a white version under a suit. Jennifer Lopez teamed the same one with a floaty tiered miniskirt. Jessica Alba gave it a little more edge with a graphic fitted skirt. Nearly three years have passed, but the top’s popularity hasn’t waned – Brie Larson just wore it in black to visit The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Other celebrity fans of the top include (from left) Hannah Jeter, Kelly Rohrbach, Alison Brie, Kristin Cavallari and Emily Ratajkowski. So what accounts for Hollywood’s longtime love affair with the “Ali?” We’re guessing it’s a combination of the comfortable stretch fabric and face-framing cut, plus the fact that it hits at a flattering spot on nearly everyone: the upper stomach. Plus, as demonstrated by the above stars, it goes with pretty much every outfit you can imagine. And designer Andrea Lieberman concurs: “The perfection of the Ali top is its simplicity,” she explains. “From the day it was birthed, we knew it would become an A.L.C. Classic because it’s a top that makes women look and feel good. It’s an ultra-flattering style with true versatility — pair it with a high-waisted pant, skirt, or favorite pair of Levis.”

Convinced? You can pick up the bronze version on sale for $78, the silver version for $69.98 or go classic with black or white for $195. (Or get a head start on the next wave of celebs and pre-order the $475 sequin version!)
