AppleTV+ has released the first teaser for Presumed Innocent, a new TV-MA limited series starring Jake Gyllenhaal, written and executive produced by David E. Kelly.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Scott Turow, Presumed Innocent follows a chief deputy prosecutor, Rusty Sabich, during a horrific murder trial that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney's office when one of its own becomes a suspect.

AppleTV+ shares that "The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together."

Joining Gyllenhaal in the cast is Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle and Renate Reinsve.

The heated preview one minute teases the tension for the upcoming eight-episode series that will hit the streaming service on June 12.

We see Gyllenhaal as Rusty with his wife Barbara (Ruth Negga) as the two look content and in love, dancing in their living room. The sweet scene juxtaposes the eerie score as it is revealed that Rusty is having an affair with Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve).

A succession of tense imagery climaxes with the final line of the teaser: "Were you aware that Carolyn was murdered?"

Anne Sewitsky and Greg Yaitanes serve as directors on the series, with Sewitsky also credited as an executive producer.

Scott Turow, author of the novel, joins the crew as co-executive producer with J.J. Abrams and Jake Gyllenhaal also executive producing.

Miki Johnson and Sharr White join David E. Kelly as co-writers, with Johnson co-exec producing and White executive producing.
