President Trump Vouches for A$AP Rocky to Swedish Prime Minister

A$AP Rocky just got a pretty powerful name to put down on his phone-a-friend list -- President Donald Trump.

President Trump just announced he had a phone conversation with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, "who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly."

Trump also told the PM that Rocky would not be a flight risk if released from jail. Trump said he would "personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative."

The rapper has been in custody since 4th of July weekend, and Swedish officials just ordered him to be held another week in pre-trial detention while the case against him continues to be investigated.

Even though Trump talked to the PM, it may not be so easy, as the Swedish official addressed the situation before the expected call from the American president.

"I will explain that the Swedish judicial system is independent," Löfven said after Trump announced his intention to make a phone call.

He continued, "In Sweden, everyone is equal before the law, and this includes visitors from other countries."

On July 5, Rocky was in Sweden to perform at a musical festival when he and his bodyguards were involved in a physical altercation with that made its way to social media.

Videos posted online showed a man being thrown to the ground by Rocky, but it was not clear who else was involved. An attorney for the rapper claims the entire situation was self-defense on Rocky's part.

Since he was taken into custody, many celebrities have expressed outrage over the situation.

Kanye West was one of the celebrities trying to help Rocky, and spoke with Trump on Friday about options for the rapper.
