President Trump Defends Ivanka Trump After Retailers Drop Her Brand

Ivanka Trump’s fashion empire is the latest casualty in the political fallout from the controversial rhetoric of her father, President Trump.

Recently, Nordstrom announced that it was no longer carrying the first daughter’s clothing line, shoes, and handbags due to “poor performance.” The Neiman Marcus Group, which also owns Bergdorf Goodman, quickly followed suit and no longer carries her jewelry collection.

Four more retailers — Belk, Walmart-owned Jet, ShopStyle, and the Home Shopping Network — are also dropping the first daughter’s brand, citing “lagging sales” as the reason behind their decision.

True to form, President Trump criticized Nordstrom’s decision by tweeting, “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
