President Obama To Be Schooled In Survival By Bear Grylls On NBC

NBC and Electus said this morning that President Barack Obama will become the “first U.S. president to receive a crash course in survival techniques from Bear Grylls,” when he appears with Grylls in a special edition of Running Wild With Bear Grylls, during his visit to Alaska.

Obama is traveling to Alaska for three days and NBC’s announcement comes the morning after he announced he was using his executive power to restore the name of the tallest mountain in North America to “Denali”; officially it has been called Mount McKinley for the past century to the chagrin of local Native Americans.

Obama will meet with Grylls while visiting Alaska to observe the effects of climate change on the area. The two will then “come together” in the Alaskan wilderness, the network and production company said. Obama will be the latest celebrity to appear on the NBC series, joining Kate Winslet, Drew Brees, Kate Hudson, Zac Efron, Michelle Rodriguez and Channing Tatum, who’ve all been shown having one-on-one adventures that test their survival skills.

Along with Grylls, the journey will be produced by Delbert Shoopman and Dave Pearce of Bear Grylls Ventures, Chris Grant, Viki Cacciatore and Liz Schulze of Electus.
