President Obama Bids Goodbye to Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show'

President Obama made his seventh appearance on The Daily Show Tuesday night, which was also his final appearance with Jon Stewart at the helm. Obama opened by exclaiming, "I can’t believe you're leaving before me." He then continued on by joking (we wish it wasn't a joke), "In fact I’m issuing a new executive order that Jon Stewart cannot leave the show." To which Stewart quickly responded, "I have to say, for me this is a states' rights issue."

During the interview, the late night show host pressed President Obama on the U.S. nuclear deal with Iran, his achievements during his time in office, and his thoughts on the media. As the show wrapped up, President Obama reflected, "The one thing I know as I enter into the last year of my presidency is that the country is full of good and decent people and there is a sense of common purpose," adding "If people are engaged, eventually the political system responds despite the money, despite the lobbyists, it still responds." Then true to form, Jon Stewart brought it all back to his favorite wild card presidential candidate, Donald Trump, asking the president, "Is that the advice you then bequeath to future President Trump?"

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central. Jon Stewart’s final episode of The Daily Show will air August 6.
